IFI Summer Season Launched
The IFI launched its Summer Season today, revealing a packed four month schedule of events to keep you entertained
Among the events taking place at the Temple Bar centre is a special season of Tony Curtis films (June 25 - 27). This will coincide with the visit by this iconic actor. Fans will have an opportunity to join Curtis for a special illustrated talk that looks back on his life and career. There will also be another chance to see some of his best performances back on the big screen including The Vikings, Sweet Smell of Success and one of the finest comedies ever made, Some Like It Hot.
The new IFI Family Festival will be taking place over four days from July 8 - 11, while 'His & Hers', Ken Wardrop’s documentary about the lives of the women of the Irish Midlands, will have several exclusive previews before its general release on the June 18. August will see a week-long exclusive release of Pyjama Girls by Maya Derrington for Still Films.
Announcing the programme today Sarah Glennie, IFI Director said 'Alongside unique highlights such as the visit of Tony Curtis, we’ll be keeping genre fans happy with exciting selections of science fiction and Hong Kong action films, making sure that we foster the next generation of young film fans with a brand new IFI Family Festival, continuing to promote new Irish film and filmmakers through the releases of His & Hers and Pyjama Girls, as well as rolling out a new year-round IFI cinema programme at The Model in Sligo.
