Ian Brown avoids driving ban by citing Stone Roses rehearsals
The frontman stays on road – and the comeback stays on track
Fans of The Stone Roses have waited long enough for the band's third album, so they'll be raising a glass to a Stockport judge who decided not to take Ian Brown's driving license when the frontman pointed out he needed it for rehearsals.
Caught driving 37mph in a 30mph zone, the frontman explained that he needed to drive to 'remote' locations to rehearse with the band, as well as visit both his son in London and his elderly parents.
Passing sentence, Pauline McArdle told Brown that his arguments of exceptional hardship had been enough to keep his license this time – but that he cannot use the same story next time.
