Hozier & David Holmes win Ivor Novello Awards

He may have missed out at the Grammys, but Hozier has just won a prestigious Ivor Novello Best Song Musically & Lyrically award for 'Take Me To Church' in London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
The Wicklow tunesmith was up against Bear's Den's 'Clouds Of Pompeii' and Ben Howard's 'I Forget Where We Were'.
He's not the only big Irish success, with David Holmes' '71 getting the Best Original Film Score Ivor.
Regarded as the songwriter Oscars, there are also statuettes for Clean Bandits feat. Jess Glynne's 'Rather Be' (Best Contemporary Song, Most Performed Work); Bombay Bicycle Club's So Long, See You Tomorrow (Album) and Natalie Holt and Martin Phipps' The Honourable Woman (Best TV Soundtrack).
Boy George won Outstanding Contribution To Music while Outstanding Song Collection went to Albert Hammond whose back catalogue includes 'The Air That I Breathe', 'When I Need You', 'The Free Electric Band', 'It Never Rains In Southern California' and 'You're Such A Good Looking Woman'.
"I don't know how he did it, but he did it, he's an enigma," observed Donovan who presented him with his Ivor.
Currently gracing the June edition of American Vogue, Hozier and his manager Caroline Downey are flying back to Ireland tomorrow in order to vote 'Yes' in the referendum.
