Méabh McKenna, Ross Chaney and Gareth Quinn Redmond announce debut album as Throwing Shapes
Listen to the newly formed group's debut single, 'Chosen Talk', below.
Three captivating, genre-defying forces in Irish music – harpist Méabh McKenna, composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Ross Chaney and ambient musician Gareth Quinn Redmond – have teamed up to form Throwing Shapes, a new collaborative project described as "a hypnotic, texturally rich exploration in sound." This morning, the new group have announced their self-titled debut album (out September 5, via Swiss label WRWTFWW Records), along with their first single, 'Chosen Talk'.
"Led by the striking timbre of the Irish wire strung harp, the album weaves intricate instrumental tapestries with ambitious electronic synthesis and arrangements," the album description reads. "The result is an immersive soundscape that feels rooted yet experiential."
Throwing Shapes is set to be released as a limited edition vinyl LP, with 300 copies pressed.
