Shakalak
This one-of-a-kind capital city act have built a staunch following over the last few years, dropping their self-titled debut LP in 2022.
Blending elements of funk, psychedelic rock and hip-hop, the outfit are fronted by musician Fin Divilly and poet John Cummins, with the latter’s spoken word insights adding a hypnotic, Streets-type flavour to the mix.
Renowned for their ability to get crowds shaking their collective rumps, it comes as no surprise that they’ve become a staple act on festival bills as well as stages like Whelan’s, The Workman’s Club and Button Factory.
Hear: Their head-bobbing, self-titled tune ‘Shakalak’.
See: The video for their synth-washed latest single, ‘Gimmy’.
