HMV issues limited-edition My Inspirations Icons calendar
Bob Dylan, Bono and Macca are among those paying tribute to their heroes.
HMV are turning their My Inspiration Icons series into a limited-edition A3 2009/’10 calendar, which is available now from all HMV stores and their sister company Waterstone’s priced €8.99 or £7.99 in the North. Proceeds go to the CLIC Sargent children’s cancer charity whose excellent work can be perused at www.clicsargent.org.uk.
Among those paying tribute to their heroes are Bob Dylan who waxes lyrical about Scottish poet Robert Burns; Paul McCartney and Bono who both plump for Dylan; Bruce Springsteen who bigs up Woodie Guthrie; and Deborah Harry who professes her love for Leonard Cohen.
Since debuting in September 2006, the My Inspiration campaign has featured over 150 artists who’ve been specially photographed by ace snappers like Anton Corbijn, Fiona Freund and Dean Chalkey.
Many of these classic images and accompanying words of fandom have graced the pages of Hot Press.
