Here Come The Good Times
A HOUSE: “Here Come The Good Times” (Parlophone)
A HOUSE: “Here Come The Good Times” (Parlophone)
Happy days are here gain! Dave Grouse’s recent listening seems to have been early ’70s glam-punk of the Mott the Hoople variety, and he’s come up with an irresistibly catchy single which, in a perfect world, would be a huge hit. The bouncy hook in the chorus and the Christmassy chimes in the background come across as almost too cheerful, but our Dave still can’t resist throwing in an almost Dylanesque double-entendre which hints at trouble in mind even still: “Here come the good times/For a change.” Further evidence of his adoration for the glam era abounds on their excellent cover of Marc Bolan’s ‘Children Of The Revolution’ and a suitably joyous rendition of Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer’s sensual ‘I Feel Love’.
