Hal on verge of record deal?
The A&R fraternity were out in force at Hal's recent Sugar Club gig
There was a huge A&R turnout last night for Hal's showcase in Dublin's Sugar Club.
Among the UK companies spotted at the gig were Independiente, Polydor, V2, Sony, Island and Rough Trade who were represented by M.D. Geoff Travis and the man who signed The Strokes/nearly-signed-The-Thrills, James Endecott.
According to a well-placed source, "Rough Trade appear to be front-runners at the moment although nothing's been signed. A couple of the other labels seemed impressed, although I did hear mutterings about them being too retro and like The Thrills. There's no question, though, that they will eventually be signed."
