Grand Pocket Orchestra for FLApes support
Dublin indie pop merchants Grand Pocket Orchestra will play support to Fight Like Apes at their Academy show next month.
Long-time friends of the band, Grand Pocket Orchestra have played with Fight Like Apes on several occasions before, most notably at the Apes' sold out Whelan's headliner in November 2007, where they caught the eye of our reviewer, who described them as "raw talent", adding: "all bets are on them proving to be something spectacular".
The two bands also crossed paths at this year's Castle Palooza festival, where Grand Pocket Orchestra were playing as winners of a Hot Press competition.
Fresh from releasing their exceedingly catchy Make Happy War EP, the Dublin quartet are also set to play dates at Crawdaddy (November 21, in support of High Places) and Club AU in Belfast (November 22).
The Apes, meanwhile, are taking their Fight Like Apes And The Mystery Of The Golden Medallion long player on the Levis One To Watch tour in the UK, an excellent warm-up for their December shows with the Prodigy.
Tickets for Fight Like Apes' December 5 show at the Academy are on sale now for €14.50.
