Zimbabwean-Irish rapper God Knows has released his new single 'Misplaced Empathy' ahead of his debut solo album A Future of the Past, set to release September 26. The new track follows his two previous singles 'The Art of Alienation' and 'The Observer'.
“While reflecting on my journey of life, I was taking stock of how far I had come,” said God Knows. “While being thankful for blessings, I had to take accountability for my missteps, and I am guilty at times of misplaced empathy, so I wrote a song about it. It felt freeing. If you have ever felt how I felt, then I hope this frees you too."
God Knows won the Choice Music Prize in 2016 as part of the Limerick rap trio Rusangano Family. Their album Let The Dead Bury The Dead was the first ever hip-hop record to win ‘Album of the Year’.
In 2020 God Knows’ released his solo EPs ‘Who’s Asking? Vol. I’ and has since released a number of singles and EPs.
Additionally, he is one of the two founders of narolane records.
The artist said that choosing the final tracklist for A Future of the Past was "a bittersweet endeavour," and that it contains "albums within this album".
God Knows will be performing at the Sounds From a Safe Harbour Festival in Cork on September second and at Ireland Music Week in Dublin on September 30.
