Gary Lightbody to join walk of peace for Lyra McKee
The Snow Patrol frontman will take part in a Walk for Peace from Belfast to Derry, which pays tribute to murdered journalist Lyra McKee.
The Walk For Peace will take place between May 25 and May 27, beginning in Belfast's Writer's Square and ending 68 miles later at Ebrington Square in Derry.
According to reports, Lightbody will join the walk for the final stretch at Dungiven and it is anticipated that he will speak at the conclusion of the walk.
The Snow Patrol singer is one of a number of artists expected to join a huge crowd who will be taking part in the March.
Lyra McKee was a 29 year old journalist who was murdered in the Creggan Estate of Derry last month by dissident republicans, during rioting with police.
The news comes as Snow Patrol gets set to perform their third Ward Park gig on May 25. This historic gig will feature Snow Patrol playing alongside some of the finest artists that Northern Ireland has to offer, including Foy Vance, SOAK, Two Door Cinema Club and many more.
In the upcoming issue of Hot Press, we have an extensive interview with Gary Lightbody, where the internationally successful singer talks about his appreciation for the music of his home, as well as the fraught politics of Northern Ireland.
