Drogheda is the place to be on July 9 & 10
All roads lead to Drogheda on July 9 and 10 as the town welcomes back the Irish Maritime Festival, which last year attracted over 40,000 visitors and won the Failte Ireland Best Tourism Initiative 2015.
A busy weekend on and off the water, there will be a Pirate Parade, Viking ships, water displays, storytelling, paper boat races, archaeology digs and kids cookery demos.
More than 200 swimmers will participate in the grueling Boyne Swim. Vessels from the East Coast will challenge each other in the Howth-Drogheda Yacht Race with rafts and rowing boats also going for victory.
Artisan food lovers will be spoiled rotten with tastings, demos and special cocktail making and distilling masterclasses.
Add in fashion, beauty, two live music stages, a close up look at the Fireboat and the Irish Coast Guard, and a chance to board the whale and dolphin-surveying Celtic Mist, and the whole family is well and truly looked after.
