Lord knows how they talked record label Sony into it, but Melaton are giving their new EP, Still Water, away por absolutely nada on the internet
Despite being signed to a very major record label – Sony – Melaton are giving their new EP away on the internet.
The first 1,000 people to register at www.melatonmusic.com will receive a free copy of the four-tracker which features 'Burning Bush', 'Still Water', 'Flow' and 'Daylight (Firstborn Ambient Remix)'.
A&R Consultant Hugh Murray, who's been working with them, says: "Obviously, giving away free tracks on the internet is a very sensitive issue. But it was done with Melaton before, just in Ireland, and it worked very well. This time the band suggested doing it in the UK as well, in support of their 16-date tour with JJ72.

"Initially some people in the label had to be won over, but ultimately the decision was made by the band and Sony is very supportive of it as an internet release."
If you're not one of the thousand, fear not 'cause the whole EP is available for download. The other way to hear it is by getting your arse along to the following JJ72 supports – Barrowlands, Glasgow (October 18); Academy, Manchester (19); Academy, Bristol (21); Pyramid Centre, Portsmouth (22); Forum, London (24); University, Lancaster (27); Limelight, Belfast (28); Leisureland, Galway (29); Savoy, Cork (31); Olympia, Dublin (November 1); University, Liverpool (4); University, Newcastle (5); UEA, Norwich (6); De Montford University, Leicester (8); University, Sheffield (9); University, Cardiff (11); Metropolitan University, Leeds (12); and Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton (13).
