Freddie Mercury: 25th Anniversary Of His Death
An immortal voice and an immortal performer...
Exactly 25 years ago, on November 24, 1991, music fans lost one of the icons of rock scenario. Freddie Mercury passed away of bronchial pneumonia as a result from AIDS virus at age 45.
With his captivating presence, the Queen frontman filled stages worldwide with his energetic-performances and created his reign up on this stages.
Born as Farrokh Bulsara on September 5, 1946, in Tanzania, Freddie lived in India before moving to England with his family. In London he met the band Smile and next to Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, gave rise to one of the greatest bands of all times, the Queen.
Mercury hid the diagnosis and had the support of the Queen's members. But gradually, the consequence of the disease was destroying his strength. The release of the song 'The Show Must Go On' coincided with the decision to stop treatment against the spread of AIDS.
On November 23, 1991, at the request of the singer, the world was informed of his true health condition, but it was late. Freddie passed away the next day.
The British band continues its activities, but without the brightness that had in the time of Freddie.
Classics such as 'We Are the Champions', 'We Will Rock You' and 'Do not Stop Me Now' will truly live on...
'Bohemian Rhapsody' scored a Guinness World Record of being Britain's nº 1 single of all time.
