Florence and the Machine retain top spot
Brit Award winning stars Florence And The Machine have retained pole position on the official albums chart for a second week.
Formed by Florence Welch, Florence And The Machine seem to have enjoyed an almost effortless rise to the top. However as is always the case nothing is what it seems in the world of the avant poppers.
A figure on London's open mic scene Florence Welch worked on her music for years, even collaborating with a pre-fame Johnny Borrell. Gathering a group around her, the star's debut album 'Lungs' was released last year.
Becoming one of the year's biggest sellers, 'Lungs' was blocked from the number one slot by the untimely death of Michael Jackson. Remaining on the charts, the record finally soared to number one last week.
Now Florence And The Machine have managed to retain pole position. 'Lungs' sits at the top of the charts following the Top Ten success of the group's cover of the house classic 'You've Got The Love'.
Clash Magazine cover stars Vampire Weekend have slipped to number nine with their new album 'Contra'. London indie folk stars Mumford And Sons, however, are enjoying their word of mouth success remaining in the Top Ten - one space ahead of Susan Boyle.
Welsh rock wizards lostprophets have rocketed to number three with their new album 'The Betrayed' while Paolo Nutini sits at number two with his hugely successful record 'Sunny Side Up'.
The UK Top Ten Albums Chart:
1. Florence And The Machine - Lungs
2. Paolo Nutini - Sunny Side Up
3. lostprophets - The Betrayed
4. Justin Bleber - My World
5. Lady Gaga - The Fame
6. Andre Rieu - Forever Vienna
7. Pixie Lott - Turn It Up
