Fionn Regan loses out to Klaxons in Mercury Prize
Nu-rave sensations Klaxons walked away with the Mercury Music Prize for their debut Myths Of The Near Future last night.
Also nominated were Irish folkie Fionn Regan, Arctic Monkeys, Bat For Lashes, Dizzee Rascal, Jamie T, Basqiaut Strings, Maps, New Young Pony Club, The View, the Young Knives and troubled diva Amy Winehouse, who surprised the crowd with a live performance on the night.
Myths... was produced by James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco and features the singles 'Golden Skans', 'It's Not Over Yet', 'Gravity's Rainbow' and 'Atlantis to Interzone'.
The Mercury judging panel said the Klaxons "take us on an ecstatic musical adventure.'' Accepting the award, the band's lead singer and bassist Jamie Reynolds said: "The Mercury Prize is about pushing music forward and this is what we did."
