Father John Misty announces fifth studio album, unveils video for 'Funny Girl'
'Funny Girl' is the first single from Father John Misty's upcoming LP, Chloë and the Next 20th Century.
Father John Misty has shared the news that his fifth studio album will be coming out on April 2, as well as dropping the first taster from the record 'Funny Girl'.
The new tune is the first single off of Chloë and the Next 20th Century and also comes with a Nicholas Ashe Bateman-directed video.
Its retro visual features a jellyfish flying through a black and white American countryside before entering a door to a world full of colour.
The lyrics to the song are typical fare for Misty (real name Josh Tilman), containing the lines: "Funny girl / You look so unassuming / Right up until / The room you're captivating / Starts to fill with gut-busting laughter / And you're transformed into a five-foot Cleopatra."
Like his prior albums since he started using the Father John Misty moniker, the new LP will be co-produced by frequent collaborator Jonathon Wilson.
The full tracklisting for the album is as follows:
1. Chloë
2. Goodbye Mr. Blue
3. Kiss Me (I Loved You)
4. (Everything But) Her Love
5. Buddy's Rendezvous
6. Q4
7. Olvidado (Otro Momento)
8. Funny Girl
9. Only A Fool
10. We Could Be Strangers
11. The Next 20th Century
Father John Misty's new album Chloë and the Next 20th Century arrives on April 8 via Sub Pop and Bella Union.
