Fanatic
70s Legends’ hearts are still in the right place...
Seminal Seattle-based duo Ann and Nancy Wilson are two of rock’s great survivors. After leaping to fame in the mid-’70s with the likes of the galloping riff-fest that was ‘Barracuda’, the sisters reinvented themselves in the mid-’80s as stadium-straddling power balladeers with songs such as ‘How Do I Get You Alone’ and even flirted with grunge in the ‘90s when Alice In Chains asked Ann to provide guest vocals for the sublime ‘Brother’ and ‘Am I Inside’. 2012 sees the pair in fine form: Fanatic is the sound of a band comfortable in their own skin. Southern rock (‘Fanatic’) and Prince-infused funk (‘Skin & Bones’) sit happily beside the ballads (‘Pennsylvania’). In general it’s a fine addition to Heart’s impressive back catalogue.
