Extra Life and Jogging Dublin bound
The fearless Charlie Looker, formerly of legendary brutal chamber ensemble Zs has become one of the champions of the New York experimental underground in recent years.
Having worked with artists as diverse and wide-ranging as Dirty Projectors, Glenn Branca, William Parker and the S.E.M. Ensemble, he has focused his creative efforts on a project named Extra Life as a vehicle for his musings.
Incorporating elements of medieval chant, metallic hardcore, and abstract modernism with a contextual sheen of lush pop overtones, the debut, full-length effort, 2008's Secular Works has received wide critical aclaim both Stateside and around the world for Looker's artistic visions.
After a monthlong jaunt in 2009 that featured a visit to Primavera as well as shared bills with Sonic Youth, Sunn 0))), My Bloody Valentine and Deerhunter, Extra Life will be bringing the fragile acoustic ballads and industrial symphonic sonic-assaults of sophomore album Made Flesh to Dublin's Whelan's on June 5 on the group's second European tour.
Special guests on the night will be Dublin's own Jogging who will no doubt throw assorted shapes and flaunt the occasional track from their excelent LP Minutes out on Richter Collective.
Tickets cost €15.00 including booking fee and are available now from www.tickets.ie, Dublin's City Discs, Road Records & Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
