Exclusive: Mik Artistik debuts his new single 'David Bowie Was A Funny Man'

Showing a completely different musical side "David Bowie .." is becoming a fans favourite on the continuing ‘Plastic Fox’ tour of the UK, taking in cities and festivals through to the end of July.

The three piece from Leeds have a growing national reputation and are proving to be one of the most interesting, unpredictable, and exciting acts on the circuit. Mik's lyrical dexterity and the musical range of Benson Walker and Jonny Flockton combine to make people laugh, cry, and throw themselves about. BBC 6Music’s Gideon Coe has played their tunes, Keith Allen has one of the Band’s teapots, John Cooper Clarke called them “sensational”, and Glastonbury love them (this year will be their 9th invite back to the Worthy Farm Festival on the trot).

Commenting on the song, Mike said: “The song itself came after I was asked to perform at a Bowie tribute night a week or two after he’d died. I didn’t want to do a ‘Starman’ cover because I thought David deserved a bit more than that. Even though I didn't have any of Bowie’s albums I was surprised at how shocked and upset I felt at his death. My Mum had given me an accordion for my Birthday, and with it I formed a little nonsense ditty that starts as a folk song, then Ben and Jonny slip in midway , and it ends with stars exploding.”
