The Rolling Stones announce new album Foreign Tongues alongside new single
The LP is set to arrive on July 10, with two singles already out and star-studded features
The Rolling Stones have announced their 25th studio album, Foreign Tongues, due for release on July 10, alongside the arrival of new single ‘In the Stars’.
The 14-track record reunites the band with producer Andrew Watt, following their collaboration on the 2023 album Hackney Diamonds, which earned a Grammy Award. The upcoming release will also feature guest appearances from Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, Robert Smith (The Cure) and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers).
Recorded at Metropolis Studios, the album was completed over the course of roughly a month. Mick Jagger described the sessions as fast-paced: “I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues.”
The newly released single ‘In the Stars’ is available digitally now, with a physical release scheduled for May 15. Meanwhile, ‘Rough and Twisted’, which opens the album, had previously been issued on vinyl under the pseudonym Cockroaches, a name the band had used earlier in their career.
The announcement was marked with a launch event in New York hosted by Conan O’Brien, who described the album as “a brilliant piece of work.” The band also unveiled the album artwork at the event, created by Nathaniel Mary Quinn.
Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood all attended the event, where they discussed the new record and its creation. Reflecting on the project, Richards said: “Anything you do, you want it to be better than you’ve done before. […] I think there’s a little more in there, boys.”
In a press statement, he further adds, “To me, it’s all about the enjoyment of it. I’m blessed to be able to do this and long may it last.” Fellow band member Ronnie Wood says, “I hope everyone loves it.”
Foreign Tongues marks the band’s second album of original material since the death of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021. Jagger confirmed that he will be included on the new record.
