Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, and more play O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack in concert
The concert, held at the Grand Ole Opry, was held in honour of a quarter century since the film's release.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of O Brother, Where Art Thou?, the Grand Ole Opry hosted an anniversary concert featuring songs from the film's iconic soundtrack on Saturday night.
The Coen Brothers' film is known for its compilation soundtrack, which won Album of the Year at the 2002 Grammy Awards. Produced by T Bone Burnett, the album pulls from bluegrass, Southern folk, gospel, and country, showcasing classic tunes as well as modern recordings.
O Brother, Where Art Thou? stars George Clooney, John Turturro, and Tim Blake Nelson as escaped convicts on an Odyssean journey across the American South.
At Saturday's concert, Emmylou Harris and Alison Krauss were joined by Molly Tuttle to sing 'Didn't Leave Nobody But The Baby'. Tuttle filled in for Gillian Welch, who featured on the soundtrack.
Krauss later returned to sing 'Down To The River To Pray'.
American bluegrass singer Billy Strings sang 'O Death' with Dan Tyminski, who provided George Clooney's singing voice in the film.
Tyminski also sang 'Man of Constant Sorrow,' the film's musical highlight. The song won the Grammy for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals in 2002.
Old Crow Medicine Show, Del McCoury, and the film's own Tim Blake Nelson brought additional performances.
