Echo & The Bunnymen announce first new album in 12 years

Echo & The Bunnymen have announced their first new album in 12 years, Apples for Isaac, to be released on September 18.

The LP features Clem Burke, the late drummer of Blondie, who passed away from cancer during its recording in April 2025.

In an Instagram post announcing the album, they tributed the "mighty, legendary Clem Burke," who was "integral to the making of this album and heartbreakingly passed away during its completion... Love you, Clem."

A track from the upcoming album titled 'Brussels is Haunted' was released last night.

Echo & The Bunnymen were formed in Liverpool in 1978 and are best known for songs including 'The Killing Moon,' 'The Cutter' and 'Rescue.' They are set to perform at Forest Fest in Co. Laois later this month on July 24.

In a 2018 interview with Hot Press, frontman Ian McCulloch spoke about his fondness for performing in Ireland.

"I’ve lots of great memories of playing here...we did three McGonagle’s shows back to back in about ’81," he said.

"Phil Lynott turned up and brought me out on the town with him. He was about ten foot tall and most of that was his head! He was just brilliant, he was a bloke with so much charm. I think he had just been a judge at the Miss Ireland competition or something. So I’m tagging along behind him totally out of my depth. I’m usually confident walking in places but not that night!"
