What’s in a name? Well occasionally, confusion arises – not a good thing when someone has just died...
Hot Press can confirm that Dusty Rhodes has died. But it is Dusty Rhodes, the world renowned wrestler (real name Virgil Riley Runnels Jnr.), who has passed away, rather than Dusty Rhodes the broadcaster.

American Dusty Rhodes, aka The American Dream, from Texas, is a former wrestler and trainer, who worked with the WWE. He had a long and distinguished career in the ring, and was a three-time NWA heavyweight champion. He subsequently moved into the administration and promotion of the sport and acted as a booker. Latterly he has been Commissioner for the WWE NXT programme. His autobiography, published in 2005, is entitled Dusty: Reflections of an American Dream. He was 69 years of age.

His sons Dustin “Golddust” Rhodes and Cody “Stardust” Rhodes both wrestle for WWE. He also had two daughters, Teil Runnels Gergel and Kirsten Runnels.
