Dorothy Murphy announces tour with new ensemble
Irish jazz vocalist Dorothy Murphy will be previewing material from her new album at a series of concert dates in September.
With her intense and enchanting voice, Murphy has been at the forefront of vocal jazz in Ireland for some years, highly regarded as both an improvising musician and adventurous composer.
For her new album Calling, she has assembled a diverse group of musicians drawn from the forefront of Irish avant-garde, classical and jazz genres, including Claire Fitch on cello, Cormac O’Brien on bass, Sean Óg on clarinet and Phil MacMullan on drums.
The new ensemble has been christened Circleways and will be performing material from Calling on the following dates:
Triskel Arts Centre, Cork - September 18
Dolan’s, Limerick - September 19
Garter Lane Arts Centre, Waterford - September 20
Crawdaddy, Dublin (album launch) - September 25
