Clare Sands announces Ireland tour
Tickets go on sale May 15
Sixth generation fiddle player and bilingual singer Clare Sands has announced an Irish tour.
Sands will be making thirteen stops across Ireland, starting in Ballycastle, Antrim on October 10, and ending in Baile Mhuirne, Kerry on December 19.
In March she announced her new album, They Tried to Bury Us, set for release this October.
The title track from Sand's new album was inspired by the Palestinian solidarity movement in Ireland.
The bilingual lyrics draw on the work of 3 Palestinian poets (Refaat Alareer, Mohammed el-Kurd, and Rafeef Ziadah) and the Irish folk song, 'Óró, sé do bheatha 'bhaile', which became a rallying call at Palestinian Solidarity protests.
"This song is a song of hope and resilience", said Sands. "I wrote it to amplify the voices of Palestinian poets. It was so special to create this alongside some of the best musicians in the North of Ireland and to witness Mustafa's Palestinian Dabke dancing up the Cavehill mountain in Belfast".
Born in Cork, Sands took up the fiddle at age 3. While learning traditional tunes from her father on a weekly basis, her mother introduced her to the blues.
Her 2022 album Clare Sands, earned her a Best Folk Singer nomination at the Irish Folk Awards.
Tickets go on sale here, Friday at 10am.
