Derval O'Rourke declares her support for repealing the 8th
“Telling me to educate myself and calling me names does not quieten me,” says the former Olympian as she's subjected to online abuse from anti-choicers.
Olympic athlete turned food guru Derval O’Rourke has been forced to deploy the extremely handy @repeal_shield after being abused on social media for coming out in support of repealing the 8th.
“Telling me to educate myself and calling me names does not quieten me,” she proffers. “It would be kinda easy for me to stay quiet on difficult topics. Sit all cosy on the fence. Perhaps in some ways it’s more ‘brand savvy’ but I won’t be quiet on topics I care about and feel need support. It’s so important to understand that a vote for yes is a vote for progressive compassionate healthcare for women.”
