Dermot Kennedy has shared a new video for ‘Refuge’ live from Glenmaroon, Dublin.
The visuals were filmed in Glenmaroon House. Situated at the edge of Phoenix Park, the former residence of Ernest Guinness hosted Dermot, his band and members of the Maynooth University Chamber Choir.
"I like the ‘died trying’ lyric, because it reminds me of 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin," explained Dermot. " Onstage, I'll feel supremely confident... Nobody can shake me. I think the people who are close to me will view me as solid and strong, but it's not always the case.
"Gabe brought the vulnerability out of me. Instead of asking what I wanted to write about, he took my notebook and started reading it. All of my feelings were on display."
Following the release of ‘Funeral’, ‘Refuge’ is the second track from Dermot's upcoming album The Weight of the Woods, set to be released on April 3 via Island Records.
The Weight of the Woods is Dermot's third album, and its release comes ahead of his largest headline tour to date this summer. The tour, which will span across Europe and the UK, includes two headline shows at Dublin's Aviva Stadium.
Recently, the Dublin singer-songwriter joined Noel and Mike Hogan of The Cranberries to perform at our 50th anniversary concert, Hot Press History in the Making: The Concert.
The line-up of the celebration also included performances from Van Morrison, Imelda May, The Frames, Florence Road, Damien Dempsey, and more.
