Singer-songwriter David Keenan has announced his new single 'Poison Water', set to release Friday, August 29.
The track comes ahead of his album Modern Mythologies, out November 24.
The new single discusses the singer's childhood in county Louth and the salvation that music provided with the shadow of The Troubles still fresh.
“Growing up in Dundalk in the 2000’s, there was a culture of silence, dissident elements, and the allure of criminality," said Keenan. "Repressed male anger was rife, you tended to look for role models in the wrong places but the things that saved me were Music and Poetry."
The artist released his first album A Beginner's Guide to Bravery in 2020, which reached number one in the Irish indie Charts. Additionally, he has released four other albums and has performed at venues such as Dublin's Olympia theatre and the main stage of Electric Picnic.
The singer's recent accolades include premieres of his documentary Words On Canvas earlier this year in Belfast and the Galway Film Fleadh. He also composed the soundtrack for Salvable released in May.
Keenan will be performing at Electric Picnic this weekend and the revival of the Tailteann Games in Kells, County Kilkenny on the September 20.
'Poison Water' is now available for pre-save and can be found here.
