After the phenomenal success of White Ladder, David Gray reveals the tracklisting for his much anticipated follow up release
David Gray has confirmed the track-listing of his A New Day At Midnight album.
Due through IHT on October 25, the "12 world class songs from a small room in South London" are 'Dead In The Water', 'Caroline', 'Long Distance Call', 'Freedom', 'Kangaroo', 'Last Boat To America', 'Real Love', 'Knowhere', 'December', 'Be Mine', 'Easy Way To Cry' and 'The Other Side'.
"After the huge success of White Ladder," Gray says, "there was a certain amount of psychology involved with making this record. It's generally unhealthy to be concerning yourself too much with what other people might think. The task I faced was to get past all that, and get on with the job of writing and recording some music that articulated how I was thinking and feeling in the here and now."
The upcoming Hot Press cover star has this to say about two of the standouts:
o 'Dead In The Water' – "The words came one morning and they were a bit like the old me. I wasn't sure if he was going to resurface! From the outset, it makes it distinctly different to White Ladder."
o 'The Other Side' – "I kept writing right up until the mix, and this was recorded only a few days before we stopped. We did the whole thing in a couple of hours. As the title expresses, there's a vividness to life even at the blackest, darkest moments."
The album surfaces in America on November 5, with Gray touring there early in the New Year.
