Dave Murphy & Friends play Whelans
Will feature a selection of artists from the golden age of the International Bar Singer/Songwriter Sessions...
Dave Murphy & Friends will perform next Tuesday night August 28 in Whelans. Dave will be assembling a stellar cast of musicians to celebrate the rich history and extraordinary legacy of his work as a musician, a promoter and unsung godfather of the singer/songwriter movement over the last twenty years.
Dave’s singer/songwriter nights were legendary in Dublin city in the late 80’s and throughout the 90’s. These nights proved to be an academy for an entire Irish scene that played host to the likes of Damien Dempsey, Gemma Hayes, Glen Hansard, Mundy, Paddy Casey among many others
The first 100 people through the door on the night will receive a free compilation CD Songs From A Small Room featuring performances from the likes of Glen Hansard, Gemma Hayes, Luka Bloom, Nina Hynes and Nick Kelly. Check out what we had to say about it here.
On the night there will be some heavyweight guests from the International Bar days making an appearance – not allowed to say who but just check out Dave and a few of his mates performance on the Late Late Show to get a taster!
