Dave Grohl says new Foo Fighters album is finished
Foo Fighters will bring their Take Cover tour to Europe this summer, however, there is no Irish date on the list.
Dave Grohl has announced that the new Foo Fighters album is completed.
The frontman made the announcement towards the end of their set in Launceston, Australia, on Saturday night (January 24), as part of the band’s Take Cover 2026 tour.
"We might have a whole new record of fucking songs that we just finished the other day!" said Grohl.
Foo Fighters released their surprise live album, Are Playing Where???? Vol. 1, in October 2025.
The album was captured throughout the surprise club shows Foo Fighters played across America in August last year.
Exclusively available on Bandcamp, proceeds from the record were donated to local charities working to combat food insecurity in the four cities the band played: San Luis Obispo and Santa Ana, California, Washington, D.C. and New Haven, Connecticut.
The band released their most recent studio album But Here We Are, in 2023, marking their first without long-time drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022.
Last year, Foo Fighters parted ways with replacement drummer Josh Freese, welcoming Nine Inch Nails drummer Ilan Rubin in his place.
The band introduced the new drummer through a joke AI video in which an evidently AI-generated Dave Grohl tells the camera, "Hey everyone. It’s been a while, but I’m happy to announce that Foo Fighters are coming back to bring you that 100% real, raw, human element of rock and roll,” before holding up a setlist of song titles that look like hieroglyphics.
