Damien Rice shortlisted for the Shortlist
Damien Rice has been announced as a finalist for the US Mercury equivalent
There's more good news for Damien Rice with his O album making the final cut for the 2003 Shortlist Music Prize.
The American version of the Mercury, he'll be slugging it out with The Streets, Interpol, Cody Chesnutt, Floetry, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Black Keys, Cat Power and Sigur Ros.
He's also performing at the awards ceremony which takes place in Los Angeles' Wiltern Theater on October 5. With Josh Homme, Chris Martin, Erykah Badu and Tom Waits among the judging panel, it's an accolade that carries considerable weight.

After peaking at number 169 on the American album chart, O debuted this week in the UK at 72.
