Cowboy Dreams
Cowboy Dreams by Jimmy Nail
Jimmy Nail: “Cowboy Dreams” (Warner)
Jimmy Nail: “Cowboy Dreams” (Warner)
Disappointingly limp, clichéd soft-rock ballad from the pen of the much-respected Paddy McAloon. Check out the lyrics: “Love’s a silver bullet/It blows your world apart/I wanna be remembered as an outlaw/The guy who broke your heart.” Even the sleeve shows a cowboy riding off on horseback into the sunset. I’ll always have a soft spot for Jimmy for his portrayal of Oz the Geordie slob in the brilliant early-80s Britcom Auf Wiedersehen Pet, but this proves conclusively that he should have stuck to the acting.
