Other Voices, Songs From A Room returns for a second series
The success of last year’s RTE production of Other Voices, Songs From A Room and its number one sister album has prompted organisers to repeat the venture.
A second series, shot in the same 200 year old church in Dingle, Co Kerry, is to be filmed over seven days from December 4 to 10 and will feature performances from artists such as David Kitt, Hal, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, The Jimmy Cake, The Tycho Brahe, Cara Dillon, The Handsome Family, Declan O’Rourke, Paddy Casey, Bell X1, Karan Casey, Gemma Hayes, Turn, Luka Bloom, Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club, as well as a number of "very special" guests.
"The location is one of the most important factors in bringing out the spirit of the music," says organiser Philip King. "It’s like a musical conversation that takes place between the artists. It was very exciting last year, hopefully it will be even better this year. It’s a very pro-active way to take a snapshot of the Irish music scene at any one time - the soundtrack to a generation - as well as inspiring others to create music themselves."
The second series is due to hit TVs nationwide in the new year.
