Drake's new album Iceman is set for release on May 15

Drake announces his ninth studio album, Iceman, which is set for release on May 15.

The release date was unveiled after a two-day promotion in Toronto. A large ice sculpture containing the date was placed in a car park, and fans quickly worked to break the ice. On April 21, streamer Kishka successfully revealed the date. The stunt was eventually halted by fire crews later that evening.

Drake first hinted at the album in early 2024, promising a "one-on-one conversation" with his fans. In July 2025, he began previewing tracks, including 'Which One' (featuring Central Cee), through a series of YouTube livestreams titled "Iceman Episode 1."

Iceman marks Drake's first solo album since 2023’s For All the Dogs and his first major release following his feud with Kendrick Lamar.

The long-running rap rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, which began in 2013, intensified again in 2023. This resurgence was marked by Lamar's release of 'Not Like Us,' a track in which he levelled accusations of pedophilia against Drake.

'Not Like Us' earned Lamar five Grammy Awards, including both Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Lamar performed the diss track during the 2025 Super Bowl Half-time Show.

The feud continued into 2025, resulting in legal and cultural fallout. Drake filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), the record label shared by both artists, in New York federal court. He alleged that the label illegally promoted and and distributed the defamatory song. The lawsuit was subsequently dismissed.
