Chunk of change
Michael Angelakos, aka Passion Pit, brings us a temporary electro pop classic.
On Chunk Of Change, the drum machines snap, the lyrics crackle, and the synths pop, and they’re all washed in the smooth creamy milk of Michael Angelakos aka Passion Pit’s production skills and his silky falsetto vocals. Angelakos’s valentine gift to his girlfriend (for such is the origin myth of this particular record) is a nutritious pop music breakfast cereal designed to get you started for a day of adventure (or freelance journalism depending on the day) and it certainly had me doing the bump with my cat in the usually dark and gloomy hallway/office (the bump is a dance you perverts). I can’t imagine that I’ll love it in six months, but I love it right now and that’s all that matters (n.b. this is also how I managed the economy when I was Minister for Finance).
Key Track: 'Better Things'
