Christie Hennessey's widow wins asbestos court battle

Christie Hennessey’s widow has successfully won substantial compensation following his death from mesothelioma, caused by his exposure to asbestos during his early career as a painter and decorator in London during the 1970s.
Gill Ross, who now lives in London, has received an undisclosed settlement figure from her husband’s former employer, Greater London Council, now known as the London Pension Fund Authority.
“Nobody should have to go through the pain and loss that we have endured because of inhaling dust at work,” Ross reflects. “Research into this disease is essential to stop families having to suffer seeing the one they love die in a painful and distressing way.”
Adds her lawyer Katrina London: “Gill and her family knew that their tragic loss was a result of Christie’s exposure to this silent killer. For many people who’ve lost loved ones in this way, they take legal action to help raise awareness of the disease and the devastating effects it has and to ensure others don’t suffer in the same way unnecessarily.”
The ruling comes just weeks after Christie’s daughter Hermione released her Songs My Father Taught Me album.
