Chrissie Hynde announces new duets album featuring Debbie Harry, Mark Lanegan and more
The new single 'Always On My Mind' from the forthcoming album is out today
Chrissie Hynde & Pals have announced a new studio album Duets Special releasing on October 17.
The collaboration album features: Debbie Harry, the late Mark Lanegan, Rufus WainWright, Lucinda Williams, Cat Power, Dave Gahan, K.D Lang, Carleen Anderson, Brandon Flowers, Julian Lennon, Alan Sparhawk, Shirley Manson, and Dan Auerbach.
The album consists 13 duets, that are stripped back with minimal and refined instrumentation. The first single 'Always On My Mind,' featuring WainWright, is out today.
“I never thought about doing a Duets album before," explained the Pretender's singer.
"I think the idea came about in 2023. I was talking to Jörn, Rufus WainWright’s husband, on the phone. I think we were recommending novels to each other and for some reason I said hey, maybe Rufus and I should do something, and quickly scribbled out 10 songs off the top of my head. So Jörn asked Rufus, who was up for it, and that’s how it started. A spontaneous and what I thought would be a fun thing.”
This will be the singers fourth album under her own name alongside the latest studio album from the Pretender's Relentless (2023) and Pretenders Live- Kick Em Where It Hurts following their 2024 world tour.
