John Lee Hooker: Chill Out (Point Blank)

John Lee Hooker’s guest producer here, Carlos Santana may be a guitarists’ guitarist but he’s never been renowned for his sensitivity to singers and so it proves on this misalliance. Hooker just seems to ride the trolley between a samba intro and a Santana solo and even then the rhythms give him an uncomfortable seat. Santana’s no chauffeur, he only drives for himself.
