Celtic Woman crashes American CD & DVD charts

Their new CD Songs From the Heart went straight into the prestigious Billboard album charts at Number 9, while the DVD, filmed last summer in Powerscourt Gardens in Co Wicklow, entered the Billboard DVD charts at number one.

According to Chloe Agnew, one of the stars of Celtic Woman, “I’m really very proud of being part of an Irish group enjoying such outstanding success around the world, and we’re all looking forward to playing in Ireland next year. The charts successes of the Songs From The Heart DVD and CD are the fruits of all the work we’ve put in over the last five years. To have a Celtic Woman release top the DVD charts with Michael Jackson at numbers two and three is a particularly exciting achievement.”

The current Celtic Woman tour includes shows at such prestigious venues as Radio City in New York, Red Rocks in Colorado, and the Rosemont Theatre, Illinois. With over 100,000 tickets sold before it even began, the tour will last four months, concluding on May 22 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are expected to tour Europe in early 2011, including some Irish shows.

To date, Celtic Woman have sold over 5 million records and more than 1 million concert tickets. They have already featured on virtually all major American TV shows and sung before such luminaries as former President Bill Clinton.
