Cardi B smashes Taylor Swift's Apple Music streaming record
The meteoric rise hasn't peaked yet for Cardi B.
Cardi B, born Belcalis Almanzar, released her highly anticipated album 'Invasion of Privacy' last week, after huge chart success with tracks 'Bodak Yellow' and 'Bartier Cardi', and a feature on Bruno Mars' 'Finesse'.
Within a week, Cardi's album had been streamed over 100 million times, shattering the Apple Music record for the most streamed album by a female artist, previously held by Taylor Swift's 'Reputation'.
Cardi was born and raised in the Bronx, New York and first came to attention for documenting her career as a stripper on social media. From 2015 to 2017, she appeared on VHI reality TV show 'Love and Hip Hop: New York'. In February 2017, she was signed to a deal with Atlantic Records.
It's been quite a week for Cardi - performing on Saturday Night Live, she confirmed that she and her fiancé - Migos' Offset - were expecting their first child. The pregnancy means she will unfortunately be required to pull out of her slot at Longitude festival in Marlay Park in July. She also guest-hosted Jimmy Fallon's late night show, days after she released the new album. Cardi will make her debut Coachella performance this weekend, reportedly earning $70,000 a day.
