Calling
A turgid piano-pop ballad
At the time it seemed outrageous. But perhaps emerging from a pair of huge inflatable legs during one particularly memorable Brits performance was Geri’s finest moment. After all, her records couldn’t be any more forgettable if they were Emma Bunton B-sides. ‘Calling’, a turgid piano-pop ballad, is no exception. Why she has to labour the point with another two near-identical versions is a mystery. Or could it be that the slightly deranged pop twiglet isn’t exactly brimming over with creative zest? Suprising, that.
