Our cover star pulls absolutely no punches in the new issue of Hot Press about his distaste for Biffo and Bertie.
“I’ve never felt an anger like I felt before I left for London,” the former Blizzards singer resumes. “I couldn’t stick living here anymore. That’s how bad it was. My dad worked his fucking ass off his entire life in the army, only for them to cut his pension by 15%. They’re robbing him.”
As for the killing of the Celtic Tiger, he proffers: “I would love to have seen the Irish people riot – not riot but fucking stand up. That would have been a revolution because we were fucked. What makes me really angry is that like goldfish we’ll forget about this and who caused it.”
In a frank and far-ranging interview, Bressie also talks about his love life; the perilous state of the record industry; living in Israel as a teenager; his professional rugby career; the Simon Fuller empire; the break-up of The Blizzards; why he equipped himself with a baseball bat during the London riots; republicanism; errant Morrissey fans; the Queen’s visit to Ireland; his top ten solo album Colourblind Stereo and much, much more.
