The iconic songwriter - and more than a few talented friends - are set for a night to remember next week
Brendan Graham, one of the most successful and decorated songwriters in the business, is planning a very special night in Newbridge next week.
The writer of 'You Raise Me Up', 'Rock 'n' Roll Kids', and 'The Voice' - to name but a few - is headed back to school, as he visits his alma mater of Newbridge College for a unique evening of song and story; and he won't be alone, either.
Cathy Jordan, the highly successful vocalist of Dervish, and the fantastic Eimear Quinn will be on vocal duties for the evening, while ivory-tickler extraordinaire Feargal Murray takes his place at the piano. That star-studded line-up will be bolstered by the presence of the Newbridge College Choir and Musicians.
With sales surpassing 100m, Graham's songs have found their way to the Super Bowl and the Olympics. Interspersed among those much-loved tunes - and reflections on the stories behind them - will be some of Brendan Graham’s best-loved pieces from RTE's Sunday Miscellany.
The event, held in aid of The Irish Cancer Society and St. Brigid's Hospice, Kildare, takes place in the atmospheric surrounds of St Eustace's Dominican Chapel, Newbridge College, on Thursday November 26; tickets for the concert, priced at €25, are on sale now.
