Bowie to headline Witnness 2004?
Good news for Glaswegians today may signal great news for Irish fans tomorrow, as David Bowie confirms for T In The Park
Just a week after David Bowie’s epic sold-out shows at The Point, speculation that he will be headlining Witnness 2004 has reached fever pitch.
While the future of the festival has itself been the subject of some speculation, the fact that there has been confirmation that Bowie will be playing next year’s T In The Park festival offers a very positive statement of intent from promoters MCD that the event will be bigger and better than ever before.
Both the Punchestown and Glasgow events are promoted by MCD, and the two festivals have commonly featured the same headlining artists. This year’s bills, for example, both featured Coldplay – and The White Stripes, who cancelled at the last minute because of injury to Jack White - had also been lined up for both shows.
hotpress.com has also learned from inside the Bowie camp, that the Thin White Duke will be returning to Ireland next year to play a "summer festival" – and the Witnness weekend has been identified as the likely time-frame.
Contacted by Hot Press, MCD Ireland have denied speculation that Bowie will be performing at Witnness – but stay tuned to hotpress.com for updates as we get them.
