It's certainly not a case of "With or Without You!" but more of a case of "without you or with out you" when it comes to the controversial US President attending The Joshua Tree anniversary tour, as far as Bono is concerned. "People who voted for Trump are welcome here but he’s not," Bono has warned.
"Trump's supporters - the people who voted for Trump - are welcome at U2 gigs in America, but Donald Trump himself is not welcome at U2 gigs in America. I welcome his supporters. But him? I don't want him here. A person like that," says Bono.
Shortly before going on stage in Seattle on Sunday night, Bono told a reporter with an Irish tabloid that he was furious that Donald Trump was cutting funding for HIV research.
"Bill Gates will be here tonight, he will tell you ‘but that doesn’t work guys.' He can’t level it off because people will die’," Bono told the Irish Daily Mirror. He added that was one of the many reasons he was so furious with Trump, according to the paper's article.
Bono also revealed to various sources that a new U2 song was partly inspired by controversial pundit, author and journalist Eamon Dunphy, who penned the band's first major biography, 'The Unforgettable Fire'.
"Eamon Dunphy had a very big influence on our new single," reveals Bono. "He said when speaking of my missus that 'Ali was the best thing about Bono.' So we’ve written a song called 'You’re The Best Thing About Me'."
