BellX1 part company with Island Records
After much industry speculation, it’s been confirmed that BellX1 have parted company with Island and its parent company, Universal Records.
Paul Noonan & Co. are adamant though that they haven’t been dropped.
“In spite of being offered an option to make a new record the band have decided that it’s time to move on and make their new record with different people and in a different way,” reads an official band communique.
Despite being a number one act on this side of the Irish Sea and notably selling-out The Point Theatre before Christmas, BellX1 have failed to make a commercial breakthrough in the UK. There was much excitement among fans last year when Vodafone chose the band’s cover of The Only Ones’ ‘Another Girl Another Planet’ to soundtrack its latest TV advertsing campaign, but British radio and record buyers failed to bite.
Currently playing acoustic support in Europe to The Frames, the band will play their own headline shows in Spain and Holland before heading out on another five-date Euro jaunt with old pal Damien Rice.
The other good news is that their cracking cover of U2’s ‘Heartland’ is downloadable from bellx1.com
