Following their run of acclaimed sold-out shows together, Bell X1 and Dowry Strings have announced an upcoming live album, Live at St Luke's, out on November 25. To coincide with the news, they've also announced shows at Vicar Street in Dublin (November 25 & 26) and Live at St Luke's in Cork (December 2 & 3).
The album was recorded in iconic Cork venue Live at St Luke's back in April, with Phil Hayes.
“It’s been a real shot in the arm for us to play and re-imagine some of the old tunes with Dowry strings, and a springboard for some new ones," says Bell X1's Paul Noonan. "It’s also led to a different way of playing live - we try to match the acoustic level of the strings, so playing much quieter than we would have been used to. Everyone playing into a shared space, mixing organically at source. It’s quite something to be up close with the Dowrys on a quiet stage and just be immersed in the sound… We’re thrilled to have captured this and to be putting out the live record."
Listen to the first track to be released from the live album, 'The Upswing (Live at St Luke's)', below:
Dowry Strings is made up of Éna Brennan, Nozomi Cohen, Yseult Cooper Stockdale and Gareth Quinn Redmond, while Bell X1 features Paul Noonan, Dave Geraghty and Dominic Phillips.
