Beady Eye to headline Japan benefit gig
Other confirmed acts include Paul Weller and Primal Scream
Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye, HP cover stars not so long ago, have organised a benefit gig in aid of the Japan Earthquake victims, featuring a veritable list of British indie heavy-hitters. Apart from Liam and the boys, other confirmed acts include Primal Scream, Paul Weller, Richard Ashcroft, The Coral and Graham Coxon.
The show will take place on April 3 at the 02 Academy Brixton, London with all proceeds going to the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal. Tickets for the event are on sale from this Friday, March 25.
Meanwhile, the response across the music industry has been typically proactive with a whole host of tributes and benefits being sprung since the disaster almost two weeks ago. Lady Gaga and Iron Maiden have designed special benefit-themed merchandise to sell at their gigs, Universal Music have announced a digital compilation album to be released at the end of the week with Rihanna and U2 among others confirmed and in the US acts such as Lou Reed, Sonic Youth and Yoko Ono have been announced for Japn Society benefit gigs in New York.
